Be Inspired: Ghanaian Born Hollywood Star Abraham Attah’s Story

I woke up today feeling very low, for many reasons. Not a good way to start the month, so I tried to shake it off. While surfing the net, I saw pictures of the 14 year old Ghanaian star Abraham Attah pictured above and it put a smile on my face. The young lad’s story is one that inspires and reminds us that God is indeed alive and still makes dreams come true. Abraham Attah until about a year ago was just another Ghanaian kid. He was discovered in Ghana while playing football in the street (not hawking as was reported by some media) & cast in the film Beasts of No Nation alongside Idris Elba.

In a year he has been groomed, developed, coached and has just won Best Male Actor at the Independent Spirit Awards. He also presented an Award at the Oscars. Because of his achievements, shoe designer Toms donated 10,000 shoes to Ghana, for kids and the less privileged(he wore black suede toms to the oscars by the way) .
He is already filming his 2nd movie and looks very promising for winning an Oscar some day soon. Moral of the story: No matter what you’re going through, or how gloomy things may seem, your story can change your story when you least expect it. Never give up, keep hope and faith alive and trust God. He can literally bring your blessings to your doorstep, literally. I’m sure if anyone had told Abraham or his parents he will end up in Hollywood, they will have looked at that person like he/she was crazy.

Viral Video: Check Out Lesbian/Gay Love Video Banned In Kenya Making Rounds Online

Kenya’s first ever openly gay music video banned  by the country’s film board is currently going viral online. The song, which is a remix to Macklemore’s Same Love, was released by Kenyan rapper, Art Attack and prominently features a gay couple as well as a lesbian couple kissing.

In an interview with Reuters, the artist said “We expected that this will create controversy, we expected that a lot of people will talk about it but we didn’t expect the amount of publicity it has received. The erotic scenes were meant to show that these people also fall in love.” It provoked a different reaction from the Film Board as they moved quickly via a spokesman to say the video “inappropriate”. “The video currently circulating on YouTube consists of lyrics that strongly advocate for gay rights in Kenya, complete with graphic sexual scenes between people of the same gender, as well as depiction of nudity and pornography, ” say Ezekiel Mutua.

On social media however, the response has the one of plenty of support along plenty of bashing with the hashtag #kenyangayvideo trending. In Kenya, just like in Nigeria, homosexuality is crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Watch the video below and let me know what you think.
